With news that manager Lee Johnson had signed 22 year old Frenchman Timothee Dieng to a two year contract yesterday, the gaffer has said today that he feels the youngster will go on to be a firm favourite at Boundary Park in the years to come.

Speaking to the Official Site about the defender cum midfielder, Johnson pointed to the fact that he was a stand out performing in the game against Curzon Ashton and he feels that fans can get used to those kinds of showing once he really adjusts to League One life.

‘He has been in and really impressed us. We don’t just bring trialists in on a whim, we believe he’s got a good pedigree. He’s been at Brest and his brothers are both footballers. He comes from a good family, he’s a good character, good age, very athletic and we want to teach him a couple of roles. We’re genuinely delighted because we think he could be good in League One.’

Speaking more specifically about what the gaffer feels he will bring to the side, as fans have only seen him once, he said that he’s two footed and he feels he’s a ‘smooth’ player on the ball who can hit the diagonal passes and switch flanks very well indeed. Defensively he’s a tough operator and is comfortable either in the middle or on the right, but also has the ability to play the anchor role protecting the back four as well.
