Oldham boss Paul Dickov now has the honour of being the first Latics manager to lead an Oldham side to victory at Griffin Park.

Dickov said: ‘I thought we played really well particularly in the second half – make no mistake this is a hard place to come and get a win so for us to take all the points and score three goals after going behind is very sweet indeed.

‘We showed great character and resilience and didn’t panic when we went behind. We kept closing people down from the front and we made ourselves hard to play against.

‘The lads have trained really well this week and that culminated in an excellent performance with a lot of attempts on goal. This was a fantastic achievement and the boys have to take credit for working so hard.

‘We defended reasonably well but Brentford’s biggest threat was the ball over the top and the ball to the wide men. Once we dealt with that then I felt we were always on top and on the front foot.’
