Deadline Day Round-up

As the deadline passed last night, Latics fans were no doubt overjoyed with the news that none of the in-form stars of a 2nd place Latics side had been sold. Many expected the TTA to have to fend off bids for Chris Taylor, Neal Eardley, Deane Smalley and maybe even Lee Hughes but midnight came without any outgoing transfers at Boundary Park.

The deadline also saw that Latics didn’t bring anyone in despite Shez saying ‘A few balls are up in the air’. However, Shez may simply be holding out for one or two loan deals as players can be signed after this weeks international break.

Rumours are also circulating that former Aberdeen defender, Richie Byrne, will join Latics. Byrne is equally comfortable at centre half or left back and is currenlty unattached, so should Oldham wish to complete a deal, it can be done outside the transfer window.

Elsewhere in England, City were making big waves with their attempted bids for Manchester United bound Berbatov, Real Madrid star Robihno and Euro Cup flop Gomez. The eastlands club managed to tie in a deal with Robihno before the night was over to the joy of City fans.

With Latics having a sell on clause for Micah Richards, I now wonder will we ever see a penny given the new investment at City? Only time will tell.
