Chris O’Grady returned to torment Oldham Athletic as they fell 2-1 at home to local rivals Rochdale on Monday.

The former Latics striker bagged both goals in the second half at Boundary Park to punish bad defensive errors.

Dale Stephens had two good chances to get on the score sheet for the home side while at the other end, Jason Kennedy headed over when he should have tested the keeper.

Filipe Morais forced the first save of the game from Josh Lillis from long range after 52 minutes.

The visitors took the lead when Reuben Hazell gave away a penalty kick for a shove on Craig Dawson Gary Jones fired the spot kick against the post but O`Grady was on hand to convert the rebound.

It was 2-0 after 76 minutes, with O’Grady seizing on a woeful back pass by Hazell and calmly slotting inside the far post from 10 yards.

Dale defender Scott Wiseman fouled Evina with five minutes left on the clock and received what seemed to be a very harsh straight red card.

Latics went on to pull a goal back through Dean Furman with a volley on 87 minutes, but the visitors hung on to take all three points.
