Having celebrated his one year anniversary in the manager hotseat at the club, Lee Johnson has said he is confident that we can overcome the test posed by Crawley Town this weekend.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game, the gaffer explained that he knew they were a tough side and they were first up of three tough matches for us this week but he had confidence in the boys to battle out the results that we wanted.

‘The boys are up for it, they are ready and we’re looking forward to it. Everyone is confident that we can get the results we need.’

Johnson knows that having watched them recently, that we will need to be at our very best to beat them and exploit the weaknesses they have because we need a positive result and the match is ‘very important’ for us.

‘It’s a tough game for them as well, as to come to Oldham away, when Boundary Park is rocking – we’ll make sure it’s tough for them.’

With Korey Smith and John-Paul Kissock missing our last match through injury, Johnson had to admit both were still doubts for this game as neither have recovered quite as quickly or as well as would’ve been initially hoped.

In the case of Smith as it’s a recurring injury, see if it can be managed through reduced training which left him available to play in games.

JPK however is likely to be out for a while as he has done something to his hip-flexor which the gaffer admits is a disappointment because he’d been training well and did well on his debut for the club.
