Manager Lee Johnson has said he felt our game against Chesterfield ended in a fair point for both sides and he also believed it lived up to the early billing of an exciting game.

With Oldham taking the lead through another Jonathan Fonte goal, this time from the spot, Chesterfield equalised in the second half and that’s where the scoring ended, but speaking to the Official Site Johnson said he was pleased with the point and thought it was a good advert for the league and both clubs.

‘It’s a good away point and a fantastic game to watch. It was end to end with lots of attacking play and great saves from both goalkeepers. It was exactly what we said it was going to be and if it was 4-4 or 4-3 in one way then people would not have had an argument.’

Johnson goes on to say that he felt we had a couple of good early chances and maybe should’ve done better with them, and he was pleased with how Poleon and Fonte looked dangerous when they were going forward, but of course then Chesterfield had a few chances they will think they should’ve done better with as well.

‘I thought it was a really good spectacle for League One with two teams that looked confident and looked like they are going to continue winning games.’

Of course the point also extends our unbeaten run to eleven matches in all competitions now and that’s also a source of pride for our young manager.
